Write software with agents. Review every edit before you keep it.
Eris is a desktop development environment for macOS and Windows. Open a project folder, describe a change or a question, and review the result in the file the agent edited. Heavier runs can move to Cloud Agents on EricServic.es while you keep working locally.
Installers are published on the Eris releases page. Choose macOS or Windows there.

Image generation
Generate images from local Hugging Face models, with GPU status and downloads in Settings.
Web search
Agents open a browser, read the page, and answer from it instead of inventing a result.
Agent and model
Choose the agent role and the model separately. Auto can pick either one.
Edit review
Finished edits show as hunks in the open file. Accept keeps the change. Reject restores the previous text.
Cloud Agents
Remote workers on EricServic.es for jobs that should not stay on the desktop.
Sign in with an EricServic.es account to run a Cloud Agent against the open project. Composer Full uses that capacity. If the worker is unavailable, the turn continues on Composer Lite on the device.
- Same project. The remote job works in the workspace you already have open.
- Local fallback. Cloud unavailability does not stop the turn. It continues on Composer Lite.
- Account usage. Free caps Cloud Agent jobs over a rolling 30 days. Pro removes that cap. Usage is in Settings.
On device
Composer Lite
Local chat and edits without an account. Downloaded models stay on the machine.
On EricServic.es
Composer Full
Cloud Agent capacity for the heavier model. Requires an EricServic.es account.
Your choice
Auto, or pin both
Leave Agent and Model on Auto, or pin a role and a specific ready model. The pin is remembered.

Open a folder, talk to an agent, and keep the edits you accept.

Ask answers without editing. Agent can read the project, change files, and run checks inside the open folder.
Auto, or a pinned role
Auto chooses Composer, Explainer, Reviewer, or Fast from the message. Pin Composer, Explainer, Reviewer, Fast, or Coder when you want that role every turn.
Separate from the model
The agent is the role for the turn. The model menu is what runs it. Those choices stay independent.
Files and skills
Type @ to attach a file and / to attach a skill. Enter sends. Shift+Enter inserts a line break.
Models
Auto
An edit can use Composer Full when Cloud Agents are allowed. Otherwise Eris uses Composer Lite, then a ready local or connected model.
Composer Lite and Full
Composer Lite runs on the device. Composer Full runs on Cloud Agents and continues on Lite if the cloud worker is unavailable.
Local models
Download GGUF text models and Hugging Face image models. Settings cover GPU, Composer, text models, and image models.
Connected providers
Use Ollama or an OpenAI-compatible API. A model you pick is the model that runs.
Editor and project
Reviewed edits
Writes stay out of the file until you accept them. Pending changes appear as hunks in the open file. Reject restores the previous text.
Development tools
File tree, editor, search, Git, terminal, and diagnostics. Agent commands stay in the workspace.
Project instructions
Each folder can keep settings, agents, rules, and project memory under .eris/. Workspace settings override user settings.
Web search
Agents can search the web in a browser and answer from the page they open.
Account
Optional sign-in
Local chat works without an account. Sign in under Settings to sync preferences and use Cloud Agents.
Browser sign-in
Approve a device code in Control Hub. The password stays in the browser.
Free and Pro
Free includes local chat. Cloud Agent jobs are capped over a rolling 30 days. Pro removes that cap.

Help → Report a Bug files an issue on the Eris repository. Diagnostics are redacted before they are sent.

Get Eris
The Eris releases page is the download source. macOS is an Apple Silicon DMG or ZIP. Windows is an x64 Setup. In-app updates check that same page. No GitHub token is required.
Open a project and start a chat.
Download Eris, leave Agent and Model on Auto, and accept the edits you want to keep.
